New Discovery
2021 was the year when things slowly click together – photography wise that is. I got more comfortable with the gear and started to experiment with getting more than 1:1 magnification using the Raynox DCR-250 & reverse lens technique. I also experimented a lot with flash and diffuser. Lots of hit and misses but there were many a-ha moments!
There were a couple of highlights for the year. For the first time, I finally get to photograph male Amegilla sp. roosting at night. I also discovered a nesting site for the Lasioglossum (Homalictus) sp. next to the house.
Gear wise, the used Nikon D7200 became my new best friend when the Nikon D5200 stopped working. I also learned how to use Lightroom for making minor adjustments and enhancements to the raw image. Lastly, I had to bid farewell to the broken Tamron 90mm f/2.8 and replaced it with the manual focus Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/4.
