The Lockdown Era
Here’s some of the photos taken in 2020, the year of the Covid-19 pandemic and global lockdown. Thankfully I have a backyard to escape to. Here’s what I said for an article about doing photography in 2020 on TheLovepost :
The lockdown initially slowed down my photography activities but that did not last long. While I couldn’t go out and about on the streets, I found an amazing, colourful world that I hadn’t noticed before right in my backyard.
I started to notice and observe more solitary bees visiting the plants. The best part was probably seeing (and photographing) the teddy bear and neon cuckoo bee for the first time!
Then there were the other smaller ones like the Hylaeus (masked bee) and Lasioglossum (Homalictus). Furthermore, I discovered a couple of new spots around the house for my bee-spotting activities and started to arrange the plants to make it easier for me to photograph the bees.
2020 was also the year that I started to experiment with the $10 vintage flash from Salvos. It was really difficult to use but certainly got me more interested to experiment with lighting.
